Student organisations are also aware, however, for the increase in drink spiking - whether the result is catastrophic or not - and the dangers involved

DRINK SPIKING - MAKING FOR A SAFER EVENT

Our team attend University events armed with drink testing kits that are made available to guests. Dressed identifiably, they will circulate and make it known that anyone concerned may have their drink tested at any time. The service is high profile, an influence that not only provides reassurance but more importantly dissuades perpetrators from attempting to interfere with drinks. At the same time they will provide advice on safeguards, prevention, and what to do if someone suspects their drink or cigarettes have been doctored

	One student relates: " I had several drinks but wasn't drunk; I was having fun until around 11pm; from then until the next morning I have no memory". She was found outside the venue at around midnight by her friends; she was cold, had lost her bag and mobile, disorientated, incoherent and unable to walk or talk. Fortunately she had come to no physical harm. An incident with similarities happened to another girl at the same venue on the same evening. Nearly all accept that, at present, the problem is not going to go away. Attendance at events by Answers staff therefore provides many benefits:
