COMPUTER EVIDENCE ~ How to handle Computer Evidence

	Suspicious? Take these steps immediately:
	Shut down the computer in the following manner: Don't let the suspect touch the machine If possible, take a photograph of the computer and the way in which it is connected If the machine is switched on, let any printing finish Programs that are running should be shut down in an orderly manner, or Pull out the mains plug! This will stop the machine going into "sleep" mode Record which cables go where and whether it is connected to a telephone socket.
	Remove everything - Take it all! Lock up the computer Confiscate company possessions - Digital Organiser, Mobile Phone etc Keyboard, Monitor, Printer Disks, paperwork and notes (passwords may be written down) Ask the Suspect for: Keys and Passwords Call 01483 423900
