Employers who reject job applicants on the basis of their colour, physical ability or gender are being caught out by "serial saboteurs". Spotting a money-making scam, some unscrupulous "job-seekers" who may have genuine disabilities or who are from a racial minority make multiple applications using different ID's in order to catch out potential employers. The applicant will submit one genuine CV and several others, all with the same qualifications and work experience but with different details about race, sex or physical ability.

If the employer selects a false CV for interview without calling the genuine one, the applicant then makes a claim that they have been discriminated against under the Disability Discrimination or Race Relation Act. The number of serial saboteur applicants is on the rise. Firms who become embroiled in the trap will often agree a financial settlement with the individual in order to avoid an employment tribunal, inadvertently allowing the individual to remain anonymous and strike again.
