We are aware that the internet has made many adult consensual practices more accessible for some people. While we know that involvement in such activity can sometimes be sinister, much is harmless if contained in a private world (providing it is not predatory). It is unfortunate that, sometimes, people who tend to such an inclination, while doing no harm to others, leave themselves vulnerable to threat of exposure which may be injurious to their career or their life. The fine line between artistic photography and pornography has become indefinable as the internet increases in predominance. In the same way that a consenting couple may choose to take artistic photographs, many borderline images will appear on a user's computer and leave a record when they have popped up through a google search for a seemingly innocuous term - try searching for the Boy Band "Blue" if you dare. We can define the difference between accidentally accessed images and those which have been deliberately sought - which may be the difference between establishing someone's guilt or innocence |

Paying a third party for sex is against the law. Paying a third party for providing "assistance" in fulfilling what the majority of the population view as an abnormal pastime is probably not. Unfortunately, some people who receive money for the latter 'service' will take it upon themselves to suggest that their clients are involved in an illegal activity - especially if the client is seen as someone with power, influence, social standing or something to lose. The potential for an individual to attempt to take advantage of such a situation is immense |

The publicity surrounding exposure will take a terrible toll on any individual who has something to lose - witness the difficulties and publicity surrounding Max Mosley when pursuing legal action against the News of the World for breach of privacy. While his legal point may have been made, the cost in terms of public knowledge of the private life of a public figure was no doubt extremely destructive to both career and professional standing. While publication in a Sunday tabloid may only happen in extreme circumstances, public knowledge of private life can be equally destructive |
